The power transfer between crossed laser beams made possible by an ion-acoustic (sound) wave (grating) has been studied theoretically2–5 and experimentally.6,7 Previously,4 we made a two-dimensional analysis of the power transfer between beams with top-hat intensity profiles in a homogeneous plasma. In this article we extend our previous analysis to include three dimensions and arbitrary intensity profiles.
